Nonsurgical facial rejuvenation treatments
to restore & maintain a radiant,
youthful-looking complexion

Smooth, soft, evenly-toned skin is a key component of a youthful, attractive facial appearance. For that reason, Dr. Mentz often combines non-surgical treatments to improve its appearance with surgical facial procedures, which restore firmness and a refreshed appearance to tired-looking eyes and sagging cheeks and jowls as part of a comprehensive plan to restore a more youthful look to the face.
A number of factors cause the skin to develop an aged appearance. As most of us reach our mid-20s, the skin’s collagen production, which helps the skin to remain smooth and firm, begins to slow down. This, combined with a weakening of the skin’s elasticity, causes fine lines to form around the eyes, forehead, and mouth. In addition, environmental factors such as sun exposure, pollutants, and smoking prematurely age the skin, resulting in a rougher skin texture, brown spots, fine lines, and a blotchier skin tone.
In healthy, youthful skin, older surface skin cells are replaced with fresh new cell at a turnover rate of 21 to 28 days. But as we get older, this turnover rate slows down, causing the dead skin cells to remain on the skin’s surface longer, which can cause the complexion to appear dull.
To restore a more youthfully radiant, smooth appearance to the skin, Dr. Mentz’s Added Touch Medical Spa offers a number of non-surgical treatments, many of which can be performed in less than an hour and require little to no down time. In addition to giving the face a more youthful glow, these treatments can diminish concerns that include the following:
- Fine lines
- Brown Spots/sun damage
- Melasma
- Acne/acne scars
- Rosacea
- Stretch marks
- Surgical scars
- Facial Spider veins
- Unwanted hair
Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments are all effective methods to remove older, damaged surface cells, giving the face a fresher, smoother look. Microdermabrasion accomplishes this through the gentle massaging action of crystals, while chemical peels rely upon agents such as salicylic acid and lactic acid—a natural ingredient that is found in milk--to loosen and slough away dead skin cells.
The medical spa’s new Dual Fraxel laser offers two different wavelengths that can penetrate the skin at either a superficial or a deeper layer, depending on the level of treatment that a patient desires. In addition to improving skin discoloration, the laser, which is appropriate for all skin types, has columns that penetrate into the dermis to stimulate the remodeling of the skin’s collagen and elastin, resulting in firmer, younger-looking skin.
IPL treatments can be especially effective at diminishing a wide range of skin color irregularities and vascular lesions such as spider veins, rosacea, and birthmarks. With this treatment, wavelengths of pulsed light are used to target both vascular and pigmented lesions. The body then clears these damaged lesions, which diminishes their appearance. In addition, pulsed light treatments can be used to prevent acne breakouts by destroying the P. acnes bacteria that is responsible for acne.
With so many effective options to improve the skin, it can be difficult to know which is best. While all will help to restore a more radiant, youthful look to the skin, the treatment that works best for each individual will depend upon factors such as the specific skin care concern that an individual wishes to target and the level of exfoliation that is desired.
Dr. Mentz’s skin care specials evaluate both a person’s skin appearance goals and concerns in order to recommend the treatments and products that will achieve the most beneficial results. The best results are typically attained through a series of treatments that are spaced about four weeks apart.
