Laser Hair Reduction

Skin care specialist at Dr. Mentz’s Added Touch Medical Spa use two of the most popular lasers, the Candela 1064 Gentle: YAG and the IPL 650-1200 nm handpiece to remove hair facial and body hair from areas such as the upper lip, underarms, back, chest, and legs, and bikini area. The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) reduces hair by using the heat energy produced from light to target and destroy hair follicles. It, too, is appropriate for all skin tones. Because IPL’s light pulses occur quickly, it is considered less painful than hair removal performed by some other lasers, and therefore ideal for larger-scale hair reduction. The Candela may require the use of a numbing cream, but its method of hair removal is considered highly effective because it targets not only the hair shaft, but also the blood supply that nourishes the shaft. Though you might experience some redness in treated areas, laser hair reduction requires no down time, so that work and other activities can be resumed afterwards. To target the reduction of all hair in its different growth cycles, several treatment sessions will be necessary.
