Tumescent Technique

In the tumescent method of liposuction, a fluid containing anesthetic and other medicines is injected into the tissues, causing the fat to swell, so that it can be more easily sculpted to create the desires contours. Because the fluid reduces blood flow to the area which is being liposuctioned, bleeding and bruising are reduced. In addition to this advantage, patients experience a more comfortable recovery in the 18-24 hours following their procedure because of the pain-relieving anesthetic contained in the tumesced solution. Patients will wear a compression garment for the following six weeks to reduce swelling and bruising, and to promote proper healing of the underlying tissues.
