Houston Children’s Charity – Adopt-A-Family Program
Each holiday season, the Mentz Foundation participates in Houston Children’s Charity’s Adopt- A-Family program. This initiative matches sponsors with families in need across Greater Houston, allowing sponsors to personally connect with families, learn about each child’s needs, and provide new toys, clothing, and essentials. For our team, it’s about more than just gift- giving—it’s about bringing dignity, hope, and joy to families during the holiday season.
The Sunshine Kids Foundation – Summer Camp
Through our partnership with The Arts of Healing, the Mentz Foundation also supports The Sunshine Kids Foundation. Each summer, The Arts of Healing hosts a special Texas Summer Camp that allows children with cancer to enjoy a weekend sleepover filled with games, crafts, outdoor fun, and group activities. The camp gives kids the chance to laugh, play, and create lasting friendships. Our Foundation proudly supports this camp and volunteers alongside the children. It’s especially meaningful to us as a family—Dr. Mentz’s daughter has joined in the experience—making it a joy to see these incredible kids enjoy a weekend of freedom and fun.
The Arts of Healing
Founded in 2017, The Arts of Healing is a Houston-based nonprofit that brings together medicine and creativity. The organization showcases the artistic talents of physicians through visual art, music, and performance while raising funds for local children’s charities. To date, it has featured the work of more than 60 physicians, welcomed thousands of guests, and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to causes that uplift children and families. Their efforts have earned national recognition, including Congressional honors and local impact awards. The Mentz Foundation is deeply involved with this mission: two of our team members, Alexis and Stephanie, serve on the board; Dr. Mentz’s son, James, has exhibited his artwork; and we provide art supplies for their art parties. We also proudly support the annual Arts of Healing Gala, which continues to grow every year. Additionally, our physician assistant, Nadia, participated in The Arts of Healing – Women in Medicine Runway Show. This exciting event celebrates women in the medical field, offering a fun and creative platform where their talents shine through fashion. Supporting this event is another way we enjoy being part of the vibrant Arts of Healing community.
Philanthropy is at the heart of our practice. Our team members are not only professionals in the office but also active volunteers, board members, and advocates in the community.
