Juvéderm treatments in Houston

Made using the unique Hylacross™ technology, Juvéderm consists of a gel that has been developed with cross-linked molecules, making its consistency smoother and more malleable than most dermal fillers. This means that your skin will look (and feel) smoother, too. This is why Juvéderm is a favorite filler for lip augmentation.

Candidates for Juvéderm

If you’re in the Houston area and are interested in Juvéderm, it may be the perfect dermal filler for you. The best candidates are those who:

  • Are over 21 years old
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Do not have any type of bleeding disorder
  • Do not have an active skin infection
  • Do not have an allergy to lidocaine
  • Have realistic expectations for what Juvéderm can accomplish

FAQ

What are static wrinkles?

Static wrinkles are visible even when the face isn’t making any expression. They are etched into the skin permanently, and are best treated with fillers like Juvéderm, while dynamic wrinkles (which are only visible when the face is making expressions) are best treated with injectable wrinkle relaxers like Botox®.

How does Juvéderm improve wrinkles?

We all have the natural molecule hyaluronic acid in our bodies. This molecule is a moisture-binding substance that keeps our skin plump, strong, firm, and hydrated. However, as we become older, our hyaluronic acid begins to go away. This is why the skin loses volume and develops wrinkles with age. As a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler, Juvéderm has the ability to deliver plump, more youthful-looking skin and lips because when injected into the facial tissue, it binds itself to the water molecules in the skin, providing volume and lift.

Juvéderm XC

The very first Juvéderm is where it all began! FDA-approved in 2006, Juvéderm XC was developed to improve the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds of the face. This includes the nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette lines. Results last 6 to 12 months.

Juvéderm Ultra

Because of its softness, Juvéderm Ultra is an excellent option for subtle lip augmentation. Results last 6 to 9 months. Juvéderm Ultra is best for:

  • Mild to moderate facial lines and wrinkles
  • Mild volume enhancement
  • Soft, subtle lip enhancement

Juvéderm Ultra Plus

With a thicker gel than Juvéderm Ultra, Juvéderm Ultra Plus is typically preferable for more severe facial folds, as it has an effective lifting ability. Results last 9 to 12 months. Juvéderm Ultra Plus is best for:

  • Improving deeper wrinkles
  • Correcting severe lines and hollows
  • Providing volume in the cheeks and/or jawline
  • Lip augmentation

Juvéderm Voluma

Unlike the other Juvéderm products we offer, Juvéderm Voluma isn’t made with Hylacross™ technology; rather, it’s made with Vycross™ technology. This means that Voluma utilizes a combination of low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, giving it an advanced cross-linked gel that is able to be molded instantly after it’s injected.

This technology gives Voluma the thickest and most effective gel substance from the Juvéderm line, making it an ideal option for age-related volume loss. Results last 1 to 2 years. Juvéderm Voluma is best for:

  • Lifting sagging facial skin and providing support
  • Adding volume to the mid-face
  • Defining a weak chin
  • Contouring the cheeks

Juvéderm treatment details

During your consultation, we will determine which particular Juvéderm filler will best treat your areas of concern based on the severity of your wrinkles, volume loss, or the location of your concerns. Juvéderm is injected using a fine needle, and contains lidocaine to numb the area to keep you more comfortable during treatment. A typical Juvéderm session takes about 15 minutes after the initial consultation.

Recovery and side effects

Juvéderm is a cosmetic injectable, which means that there is essentially no recovery time. You should be able to resume regular activities immediately after treatment. However, depending on the type of Juvéderm product you undergo, you may experience some side effects.

The most common are redness, bruising, swelling, itchiness, and/or firmness at the treated areas. Some patients also experience bumpy skin at the injection site. All of these side effects are temporary, and if you are concerned about any of them, please let us know during your consultation.
