What is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift is less invasive than a traditional facelift, but is excellent for addressing mild to moderate sagging facial skin or lax jowls. Performed mostly to tighten the lower half of the face, a mini facelift only pulls the skin very slightly.

This results in a refreshed, natural-looking appearance that is not overdone. A mini facelift improves the jawline, defines the neckline, and refreshes the overall appearance of the face. The result is a rejuvenated, friendlier, more youthful and attractive look.

Benefits of a Mini Facelift

  • Less swelling and bruising
  • Less recovery time
  • Incisions are more easily hidden
  • Costs less than a traditional facelift
  • Natural-looking, rejuvenated appearance

  • Loose or excess skin

  • Lax jowls
  • Wrinkles
  • Marionette lines
  • Double chin

Dr. Mentz’s Surgical Technique for Mini Facelift

Dr. Mentz performs mini facelift surgery at his AAAASF-certified SurgiCentre facility in Houston under general anesthesia with variable levels of sedation (depending on the surgical approach and if any other procedures are being performed).

The length of treatment time will also depend on these factors. In a traditional facelift, Dr. Mentz will make an incision that begins in the hairline at the temples, continues around the ear, and goes around the earlobe into the natural crease behind the ear, ending in the lower scalp.

With a mini facelift, the incision stops at the earlobe. These shorter incisions mean less recovery time, and also less visibility after healing is complete.

Mini Facelift and Other Facial Procedures

Because the mini facelift only focuses on the lower face, it’s typically the perfect procedure for younger patients who want to look refreshed and rejuvenated, as opposed to undergoing a total change. However, if you have other areas of concern such as signs of aging around the eyes or excessive forehead creases, Dr. Mentz can combine a mini facelift with other procedures — both surgical and non-surgical — such as blepharoplasty, a forehead lift, or cosmetic injectables. No matter what areas are bothering you, Dr. Mentz will create a tailored treatment plan designed just for you to get the most beautiful and natural-looking outcome.

Recovery and Results

After a mini facelift procedure, the majority of patients are able to resume light activities and work within one week, and more high intensity activities and workouts in two weeks.

There will be some swelling, bruising, and discomfort which can be managed with medication. Results are long-lasting, with longevity of 7 to 15 years.

Candidates for a Mini Facelift

If you’re in the Houston area and you’re interested in a mini facelift, it may be the perfect procedure for you. Those who make excellent candidates are those who:

  • Are in their 40s and 50s
  • Have skin that still has fairly good elasticity
  • Want to improve the lower half of their face
  • Have mild to moderate sagging skin
  • Have mild to moderate jowling
  • Have deep nasolabial folds
  • Have wrinkles in the lower face
  • Want only subtle improvement
  • Don’t yet need a complete facelift

How much does a Mini Facelift Cost?

The cost of a mini facelift is typically less than a traditional facelift because it is a less extensive procedure. The cost depends on a variety of factors depending on the treatment plan created by Dr. Mentz to get you your desired results. Because each patient has different aesthetic goals, rates will vary. Dr. Mentz will discuss with you what will be required to achieve your intended look, and after your consultation you will be able to receive a precise cost for the procedure.
