Some individuals dislike how their brow makes their “resting face” look sad, exhausted, or angry. This is an aesthetic problem that can be greatly improved with a brow lift procedure performed by a skilled facial plastic surgeon.

Key benefits of brow lift surgery

  • Elevates the brows into a youthful position to deliver a more refreshed, youthful appearance
  • Smooths horizontal forehead lines and the vertical lines between the brows
  • Improves the appearance of sagging folds between the brows and lids

What is a brow lift?

Due to loss of skin elasticity, years of sun damage, and repeated muscle contraction over the years, the brow begins to descend lower and lower on the face, and horizontal creases become etched within it, causing the face to take on an aged, fatigued, and worried appearance. A brow lift, also known as a “forehead lift” or a “browplasty”, can provide a significantly more refreshed, youthful, and attractive look by correcting these issues.

Dr. Mentz’s surgical technique for a brow lift

Triple board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Henry Mentz has used an endoscopic technique for his brow lift procedure since 1991. This technique allows him to use tiny incisions made within the hairline in order to re-position the skin and the underlying tissues and muscles of the forehead. This technique ensures that scarring is minimal and well-concealed. In addition, the endoscopic brow lift technique allows Dr. Mentz to restore a rejuvenated look to the face with the aid of a tiny fiber-optic tube that is attached to a camera.

After making a one-eighth of an inch incisions at (or within) the hairline, the endoscope’s small video camera allows Dr. Mentz to view the internal structures of the forehead. This makes a long incision — commonly used in other brow lift methods — unnecessary. Dr. Mentz then re-positions the skin, underlying tissues, and muscles of the forehead to smooth away expression lines and gently elevate the brows to give the face a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

An endoscopic brow lift is completed in 1 to 2 hours under general anesthesia. It is performed at Dr. Mentz’s private AAAASF-certified SurgiCentre in Houston, Texas under the supervision of a board-certified anesthesiologist.

FAQ

Can a brow lift be combined with another procedure to enhance results?

Although a brow lift alone can provide a dramatically more refreshed and youthful appearance, many patients choose to combine it with a facelift, neck lift, and/or eyelid surgery to create a youthful look that appears natural and balanced. During your consultation with Dr. Mentz, he will evaluate your facial characteristics and listen closely to your goals in order to provide you with the surgical and non-surgical recommendations that will give you the best outcome. Multiple procedures will also increase the costs for anesthesia and facility time.

How much does a brow lift in Houston cost?

The cost of a browlift starts at $6,000. Please note these fees do not include anesthesia, facility, or outside fees.

The cost of a forehead lift in Houston will vary from patient to patient, depending on the amount of work that needs to be done.

Recovery

Patients are typically able to return to work in 7 to 10 days following their brow lift procedure. Sutures are removed in 5 to 10 days, and exercise may be resumed in about four weeks. The endoscopic brow lift results in minimal bruising and swelling, with scars that are nearly undetectable. Some patients also experience reduced sensation in the scalp, but feeling typically returns within the first few weeks.

If you live within 30 miles of our center, a specially trained plastic surgery nurse can visit your home to assist you with your recovery. She will monitor your recovery, change any dressings, assist you with your medication, and provide Dr. Mentz with an update on your condition.

Candidates for a brow lift

If you’re considering undergoing a brow lift in the Houston area, you may be an excellent candidate. The best candidates for this procedure are those who:

  • Dislike their horizontal forehead lines and/or lines between the eyebrows
  • Are unhappy with their sad, angry, or tired-looking “resting face”
  • May have impaired vision due to sagging eyelid skin
  • Are non-smokers in overall good health, with no major medical conditions
  • Do not have uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, or bleeding, or blood clotting disorders
  • Have a realistic understanding of what a brow lift can accomplish

After our consultation, we decided on a brow lift, under-eye lift with a scar revision, and fat grafting. Dr. Mentz did such a good job. I am so thrilled already. I look exactly like me, except younger and better. I love the brow lift also. He is gifted with the face. I am so happy that I chose him and didn’t go to someone that would make me look like someone else.
